I did use it quite a bit, along with Anders’ healing abilities. Group heal was a chore because you have to activate Heroic Defense (which made all spells except Mind Blast unobtainable), use it, then switch Heroic Defense off. If there is one thing I’ll be doing again for sure it’s taking Healing. I had him in my party most of the time as my heavy weapons guy. Traveling with Fenris as a mage, even one who kissed butt for 98% of the game, made his opinion Rivalry / Friendship constantly go up and down. They seemed to do their own thing just fine and on the rare occasion they didn’t, I’d switch over to them manually. I also didn’t bother with any of the party tactics because I never needed them. ![]() I still managed to kill the Arishok, albeit barely, with only Hawke. My health poultices wouldn’t work on my team members and only Hawke could use them. I had some trouble with 2 of the “boss fights” but that was due to a bug. This build was, however, deadly and effective with the team. Expect new posts in the future as I learn the game hands-on. There may be spells which are more effective, particularly on a difficulty level other than “casual.” It will take me many more times through the game to make the most lethal mage possible for my playing style. To be brutally honest, I’m not going to go so far as to call this a “tank.” It was my first play through and I didn’t have a clue what I was doing except my Origins experience. Don’t read it if you don’t want some secrets revealed. ![]() ![]() I will be talking about certain bosses and events in the game which are story spoilers.
